AMCAS 2014 Processing Updates

The following is a message sent from AMCAS on Tuesday, August 20th regarding the 2014 application cycle. 

"As of yesterday, nearly 32,650 applications have been submitted to AMCAS for the 2014 cycle. This represents a 6% increase from this time last year (an additional 1,890 applications received). Although we verified more applications during the first eight weeks of processing than last year, the volume of applications waiting to be processed is now higher than ever. As of this week, nearly 15,700 applications are waiting in the queue to be verified and processed to medical schools. Due to this upsurge, we have had to adjust our verification timeframe to about eight weeks. Full details of this adjustment can be found on the AMCAS website, which we shared with our applicants and medical schools in early August."
